Tornado Touches Down Near Pearland, Causing Extensive Damage
An EF-1 tornado struck a Houston suburb early Wednesday morning, leaving behind a trail of destruction.
Survey Teams Confirm Tornado's Path
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), survey teams have determined that the tornado touched down near Pearland in Harris County, Texas. The tornado traveled for approximately three miles, with winds reaching speeds of up to 110 mph.
A tornado watch was in effect for much of Southeast Texas at the time of the storm.
Extensive Damage Reported
The tornado caused significant damage to homes and businesses in the area. Streets in downtown Houston were flooded, and trees were uprooted. There were also reports of power outages and downed power lines.
Emergency crews are currently responding to the scene and assessing the damage.
No Injuries or Fatalities Reported
Thankfully, there were no reports of injuries or fatalities as a result of the tornado.
The Houston Police Department is urging residents to stay away from the affected area and to follow any instructions from local authorities.
